Malath Alarnosi: Case Manager Supervisor

Malath is an incredible asset to our team! She works with our new neighbors in their first months in NWA, helping them with basic needs, applying for benefits, and getting settled into their new home and oversees other case managers on her team.

She is originally from Iraq and has previously worked with the IRC and other humanitarian organizations in her home country. Malath has a background in electrical engineering and is also an accomplished artist. She has held art exhibitions around the country documenting the refugee experience and loves sharing stories of resilience, showcasing cultures, celebrating the strength of refugee women, and making art with her three kids!

She herself was welcomed to the United States 8 years ago and is excited to use her experience to provide the warm welcome our new neighbors deserve. She has devoted much of her life to giving back, advocating for issues that refugees and immigrants face, and bridging the gap between people of different cultures and backgrounds. One way she does this is by working with refugee women on ways they can be independent in their new cultural context, including how to sell their own art. She has seen art help women integrate into a new community and admires how people of all different languages and backgrounds can be brought together through art. "Art doesn’t know a language", she says.

Malath is proud to bring her strengths and passions to Canopy and believes that by providing the assistance our newest neighbors need and deserve, they are able to give back in incredible ways to their community. We are thrilled to have her perspective and passion as we grow our community of welcome in Northwest Arkansas!
