Mahdi Faizy: Case Manager

Mahdi is one of our wonderful Case Managers who has primarily worked alongside our Afghan new neighbors. His role is wide-ranging, helping newcomers from the moment they step foot in Northwest Arkansas through their first months and even years into their lives here. He loves getting to welcome them to their new home and see the "great sense of relief" knowing their journey to get here has been long. From there, he helps with various levels of assistance for their first days and months, making sure they have all they need to get settled and begin new lives comfortably here in our community.

Mahdi is from Afghanistan and came to NWA in 2021 with his wife, son, mother, and sisters after the fall of Kabul. He attended the University of Arkansas just two years prior and obtained a Masters in Public Administration. He has a background in nonprofit and NGO services and did internship with Canopy in 2020 as a part of his Masters program. The relationships be build at Canopy and access to nature is what led him to find his way to NWA with his family the following year.

He loves the balance of work and life that he feels NWA brings, as well as "the opportunity to get into nature just by walking a few hundred feet or driving a few miles you [find] trails for hiking, jogging, and biking". Mahdi is passionate about sharing the beauty of nature with his young son - "I'd like to convey the message to my child that nature should be protected and taken care of. I feel that this community [does] that."

We're so grateful to have Mahdi on the team and for all he does to help our new neighbors feel welcome here in NWA!
