Joanna Krause is Canopy NWA's Executive Director since 2020.  She joined the organization first as a volunteer in 2017, and in 2018 joined the staff to launch Arkansas's first Refugee Health Promotion program in collaboration with the Arkansas Department of Health.  Previously, she worked in refugee services including the International Rescue Committee and Jewish Vocational Service in Boston, New York and Atlanta and held a public health fellowship working with internally displaced people at the Burma border.  She has expertise in project management and grants and contracts management through her work at the Boston University School of Medicine Office of Continuing Medical Education.  Joanna holds a Master's in Public Health from the Boston University School of Public Health and a BA in Anthropology from New York University.  She is the daughter and granddaughter of an immigrant and refugee family.

Joanna enjoys early mornings and evenings running the trails or biking the gravel roads across Northwest Arkansas and she especially loves it when her husband, kids and friends join in.
