Empowering Immigrants to Become Business Owners


 

Eligibility:

  1. Must be an immigrant or child of an immigrant

  2. Must have a business idea

 


Included in the Course:

Entrepreneur Training: Includes a weekly course and weekly one-on-ones with the instructor to work specifically on each business on the individual level.

Loan Assistance: We also provide opportunities to win or apply for free money. Our pitch competition gives them a chance to win money to kick start their business. We also strategically partner with organizations like Upstart Thrift Store that give grant money every quarter from $500-$5000 to entrepreneurs. 

Business Services & Technical Assistance: Upon completion of the 12-week training program, Canopy offers comprehensive technical assistance to entrepreneurs for 2 years to provide support and help new business owners with needs that may arise. Our team works closely with each entrepreneur, providing personalized support tailored to their business needs.

Real Estate: Assistance to locate and obtain physical business location

 

The Build from Within Alliance is a national network of community development organizations supporting local entrepreneurship in neighborhoods across the country.

We work in communities that show visible and invisible signs of systemic disinvestment, connecting entrepreneurs to opportunities and support.

Pitch Competitions:

At the end of each cohort a pitch competition is held for the students. The pitch competition is a chance for them to not only introduce their businesses they have been working on to the community, but also to win some money.
