Aarozo Farhad: Refugee Services Director

Aarozo joined our team as the APA (Afghan Placement & Assistance) Coordinator and soon after, moved into her supervisor role! She is responsible for overseeing our case management team as well as introducing our new Afghan neighbors to our community and communicating with them about Canopy and the services and supports we provide. She helps prepare housing and basic necessities before they arrive and make sure they are supported as they settle into NWA.

Aarozo is originally from Afghanistan and speaks both Farsi and Pashto - she is excited to welcome many new Afghan neighbors in their own language! She has experience working with civil society organizations and NGOs in Afghanistan, specifically focusing on empowerment. She has a background in political science and gender studies and specific interests in women’s empowerment and gender politics. Her passion for gender studies came from working closely with women-led organizations in Afghanistan doing work in gender empowerment.

She loves all of the amazing hiking spots around our incredible area and enjoys exploring the beautiful, natural landscape that Northwest Arkansas offers. She also seriously loves dogs (especially Huskies) but… she’s allergic.
